Barton Grill: The Highly Anticipated New Restaurant Coming to the K Club

Bringing a fresh take on casual fine dining to The K Club, this new restaurant concept combines the refinement of a high-end culinary experience with an effortlessly relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that is open to all.

At the heart of the kitchen is a commitment to sourcing exceptional Irish produce from trusted suppliers. The ingredient-led menu reflects the combined experience and distinctive flair of Executive Chef Gary O’Hanlon and newly appointed Head Chef Adam Leahy. Having worked under Gary for the past ten years, Adam now steps confidently into his next chapter, bringing depth, continuity and a quietly assured creativity to Barton Grill.

Whether joining us as a hotel guest, after a round of golf, or simply for an exceptional meal, Barton Grill is designed to feel both comforting and contemporary. The cooking is rooted in classical technique, drawing inspiration from The K Club’s French heritage, while each dish is finished with a modern Irish touch.

Signature dishes such as Beef Wellington, tableside Dover Sole, Oysters and Scallops form the centerpieces of the menu, celebrating the Grill tradition. These sit alongside comforting classics including Dublin Bay Prawn Cocktail and French Onion Soup.

The drinks experience at Barton Grill is equally considered. Guests arrive at the restaurant through a softly illuminated wine wall lined with carefully curated bottles from The K Club’s own cellar – part of the historic legacy left by one of the longest-established Irish families in the Bordeaux wine trade, the Bartons. Those looking to add an experiential element to their culinary journey have the option of a pre-dinner tasting in the cellar itself, guided by the hotel’s knowledgeable and friendly sommeliers, led by Lisa O’Doherty. A refined cocktail menu completes the experience, featuring chic classics alongside handcrafted K Club signatures.

Barton Grill’s logo has been thoughtfully designed to reflect the refined character of this new luxury dining destination within The K Club. Inspired by the natural elegance of the native Straffan snowdrop, first discovered on the grounds of our estate in the 1850s, it speaks to a deep and enduring connection with the landscape and natural beauty of the historic Kildare setting. Meanwhile, the inclusion of the grapes pays tribute to the Barton family’s distinguished legacy as wine merchants complemented by a sense of French sophistication subtly woven into the overall aesthetic. Central to the artwork is the iconic 1830sStraffanHouse, illustrated by Tara Fetherson, creating a distinctive brand mark rooted in nature, heritage, and family tradition.

This sense of place is further expressed throughout the restaurant through a curated collection of 20 original artworks, commissioned by The K Club’s owner Michael Fetherston from Dublin-based artist Jean Lowndes. Inspired by features of the grounds and the Barton family, the collection deepens the restaurant’s connection to the resort’s storied history and stunning surroundings.

Barton Grill represents a confident new chapter for dining at The K Club, where exceptional food, thoughtful design, and a rich sense of history come together in an atmosphere that feels refined, welcoming, and effortlessly elegant.
