The 2025 Amgen Irish Open returns to The K Club from September 4–7, setting the stage for a thrilling week of championship golf just weeks after The Open Championship. The Palmer North Course, renowned for its Ryder Cup drama in 2006 and Rory McIlroy’s dominant home victory in 2016, will once again play host to top-tier international talent and Irish heroes.

Fresh off the excitement from Royal Portrush—a venue that saw Shane Lowry win his first career major —the Irish Open promises a seamless transition from major stage glory to national celebration. With the world’s eyes still on Irish soil, players will carry momentum and storylines from The Open directly into Kildare.

Leading the home contingent is Shane Lowry, the 2009 Irish Open amateur champion. Lowry has confirmed his 17th consecutive appearance and arrives in formidable form after a stellar 2024–25 season, including a triumphant team victory alongside McIlroy in New Orleans and consistent top finishes on the PGA Tour. “The Irish fans truly are the best in the world,” he said, emphasising the electric atmosphere he expects at The K Club.

Rory McIlroy, fresh from completing the career grand slam at Augusta and finishing runner-up to Rasmus Højgaard at Royal County Down, will return to the scene of his first Irish Open triumph. McIlroy described playing on home soil as “always a special experience,” recalling the roaring support that carried him down the 18th hole and promising a captivating performance.

Added excitement comes from Seamus Power, the Waterford-born PGA Tour winner and official K Club ambassador. Power will seize the momentum of national support and his American circuit prowess to chase his first European crown.

Joining this formidable trio are rising star Rasmus Højgaard, who returns to defend his title after a dramatic birdie run sealed a win last year, and Padraig Harrington, the three-time major champion and crowd favourite.
