K Club Pro's Tip

Connect to your target! Bodies react to targets!

One definite difference I find between the amateur and the professional golfer is their connection to the target.

By this I mean the amateur golfer generally looks at the target over the ball just once. In contrast a tour professional will walk into the shot looking focused at the target, and once over the ball has focused looks on the target a further 2/3 times. For me there is definitely greater connection in the target with the more advanced golfer as opposed to the less advanced golfer. My advice would be to become more target aware before the shot and while standing over the shot. The more you feel connected to the target, the better the results seem to show up. Also, while swinging the club feel your swing being swung to your target, not your golf ball!! This will lead to better focus, freer body movement, and inevitably better results.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Enjoy exploring you and your target becoming one.

                                                                                                What's your Trigger?

After many conversations with golf professionals and elite players, one of the differences between them and a higher handicapper is the way they swing the club at the target with more freedom.

We have all experienced them amazing golf shots were if we had to be very honest it just seemed to happen without all the checklist/swing thoughts during the move of the swing.

If you observe a professional/elite player they all have a trigger/final move just before they let the shot off to the target. In time creating a trigger will help lead to playing golf with an empty mind. Allowing the training that we have put our very powerful bodies through, to realize the greatness we all believe to be possible.

A trigger is the final thing we do before we let the shot go. A trigger can be physical or verbal and after time exploring what suits your personality you will find a trigger that works best for you, I can guarantee you the freedom a trigger creates will lead to better results for you.

Two examples of triggers for world class players are;

Phil Mickelson has a forward press with the hands just before he takes the club away from the target.

Annika Sorenstam lifts the club head up above the ball once and once it taps the ground behind the ball she lets it go!!

Enjoy finding the trigger that works best for you!
