Congratulations to France on winning the bid to host The Ryder Cup 2018!
After a highly competitive pitch to host the Ryder Cup 2018, France has been declared as the host country to hold the prestigious Ryder Cup matches. The 42nd edition of the matches will take place at Le Golf National which is located on the outskirts of Versailles, near Paris.
The K Club in Straffan, Co. Kildare, Ireland hosted the Ryder Cup in 2006 and upon hearing about the French nomination, CEO and GM of The K Club, Michael Davern said, “we would sincerely like to congratulate France on its nomination to host the Ryder Cup in 2018.
We were honoured to have hosted the Ryder Cup here at The K Club in 2006; it was a magnificent experience not just for us here at our resort but for the country as a whole. Hosting the Ryder Cup allowed us fly the flag for Irish tourism and to truly celebrate the very best of our sporting and social life as the eyes of the world were drawn to us to watch the exacting match play.
Our own Course Superintendent knows the French team well and has been offering them advice based on our own experiences. We would like to wish Le Golf National and its management team the very best of luck with the preparations.” The K Club is home to two Arnold Palmer Championship courses including the Palmer Ryder Cup Course and the Palmer Smurfit Course. The resort also includes a 69 bedroom hotel which is this year’s AA Hotel of the Year, K Spa, several restaurants, bars and dining outlets and luxury homes and villas which are available for rent for golfers or visiting groups.
